Welcome to ADF!
Although 85% of the world’s population lives in developing economies, most accounting research published in leading journals focuses on developed countries. At the same time, accounting plays a vital role in development, yet few accounting researchers at top research institutions prioritize these issues.
Our mission is to put more accounting into development, and more development into accounting. We encourage research on fundamental accounting topics in developing economies, especially work that reveals how accounting practices, institutions, and information shape economic outcomes across diverse environments. Understanding these contexts not only improves development outcomes, but also leads to new insights about the role of accounting in society.
